There are seasons in life when everything seems to demand something from us. Work deadlines, family commitments, relationships, responsibilities and the everyday decisions that keep life moving. We adapt, we organise, we keep showing up and, often, we find a way to make it all work. But somewhere along the way, it can become harder to hear our own thoughts, recognise what we need or make space for the things that bring us joy and fulfilment. Not necessarily because we don't care about our wellbeing, but because life can become so full that we simply don't give ourselves the opportunity to stop and reflect.
My own journey back to what matters
During my corporate career, I experienced periods of pressure. There were projects to deliver, expectations to meet and responsibilities that extended well beyond the working day. Like many women, I was accustomed to being busy, achieving and moving from one commitment to the next. I was focused on what needed to be done, often giving little thought to how much space I was leaving for myself.
It wasn't until I faced a health challenge that I was prompted to pause, reflect and dig deep to prioritise what was important to me and begin rebuilding my health and wellbeing. The season taught me that wellbeing is not simply about knowing what is good for us. It is about understanding what we need, recognising what matters and finding ways to put those things into practice within the realities of our lives. It also encouraged me to research more closely into rest, connection and how to strengthen our mind, body and spirit.
RestConnect Health was born from this experience. Women can be supported to find their inner strength, explore their priorities and take meaningful steps towards a life that feels more aligned with who they are and what matters to them.
What does connection with yourself actually look like?
Self-connection doesn't have to involve a major life change or a complete reset. Sometimes, it begins with gently asking yourself a few questions:
What has been taking most of my time and attention?
What activities or experiences make me feel most like myself?
What would I like more of in this season of life?
These questions aren't about judging where you are today. They are an opportunity to become more aware of your needs, values and aspirations.
A little reflection
I’ve found it helpful to complete these sentences whenever I encounter pressure or difficult challenges:
Lately, I've been giving most of my attention to...
I feel most connected to myself when...
One thing I would like to prioritise in this season of life is...
A small step I can take this week is...
These prompts have created space to pause and listen to what my body, mind and spirit is calling for.
I believe women deserve the opportunity to pursue a life that feels meaningful, connected and supportive of their wellbeing. It means learning to recognise what matters and making intentional choices to give those things a place in our lives. This is the philosophy behind RestConnect Health and the programs I’ve developed.
